Replacement Facility & Various Renovation, Expansion Projects for Long-Time Client
This 260,000-square-foot, full-service non-profit acute care hospital was originally designed as a satellite facility for Georgetown Memorial Hospital to serve the fast-paced growth of Georgetown County in South Carolina. Now, this hospital has grown to include four stories and 167 beds.
Constructed in two phases, the first was completed in 2002 and consisted of 111 beds and three stories. The second phase was a vertical expansion of the fourth floor that added 56 additional beds. In addition to the main hospital, we provided design services for several separate facilities, including an endoscopy center, medical office building, and outpatient surgery center.
The interior planning was based on the concept of hospitality, with an emphasis on patient-focused care and caregiver efficiencies. The use of abundant natural light and a warm, soothing color palette with occasional bright colors creates an environment of healing and care.
