A new state-of-the-art elementary school to service students grades Pre-K through 8th in the Orleans Parish School System.
The new elementary school design comprises of traditional classrooms along with flexible teaching spaces to facilitate collaboration and a group learning environment. Activity spaces such as the school's gymnasium, media center, music rooms, science labs and commons areas were grouped together to keep the academic spaces quieter for students. Nestled by an existing cypress tree cluster, the outdoor classroom is used to teach the importance of the natural ecosystem in the New Orleans area as well as emphasize the natural wildlife and environment of the State. The 110,000 sf elementary school in New Orleans serves 788 students in grades Pre-K through 8th. The project achieves LEED Silver certification under LEED 2009 for Schools New Construction and Major Renovations.
