Office of Juvenile Justice Master Plan

Louisiana

Development of the proto-typical campus and dormitory based on the Missouri Model of Juvenile Justice Reform.

GraceHebert guided the Office of Juvenile Justice in an analysis of current population data, existing facilities and processes examination and development of a “New Vision” for intensive residential care for the State of Louisiana.

In addition to the smaller housing groups and residential architectural vocabulary criteria decided early on, other concepts developed included family proximity, control of population size, localized treatment services, immediate location of facilities where they are most needed, reduction of operating cost and the incorporation of sustainable design practices.

Once the spatial requirements and relationships were refined, two basic modules were developed: the proto-typical dormitory and the proto-typical campus. These designs ultimately will deliver on the promise of new more effective and efficient solution for Intensive Residential Care.
