Louisiana State Penitentiary Death Row Complex

Angola, Louisiana

The new Death Row Cell Block is a state of the art facility at one of the nation’s largest prisons.

Their cellblock design has become the model cellblock for the department of public safety and corrections. The design allows for observation from the center control room and the control systems installed have proven very user friendly.

The facility houses 120 inmates who have been sentenced to execution by the State of Louisiana. The programmed spaces for the Death Row Cell Block can easily be separated into three basic categories: Cell Block / Central Control, Inmate Support Areas, and Administrative Support Areas. The Inmate Support Areas include a law library, dental and medical exam rooms and twelve individual exercise yards.
