Multiple Free-Standing Emergency Departments in Texas’ DFW Area
Using Evidence Based Design and LEAN values, four E-Care Emergency Centers facilities located across Texas took shape with patient comfort and operational efficiency in mind. The exam rooms are separated from the treatment rooms, providing optimal privacy with respect to each area’s level of acuity. CT and X-ray rooms share a central control room, eliminating space redundancies. Staff travel is minimized by making support spaces accessible to all patient care areas. Patient comfort is enhanced through the use of natural light in all patient areas. Early feedback suggests that the design and layout of these facilities adds tangible value to E-Care operations.
The E-Care Emergency Centers are free-standing emergency departments (FSED) and are located in North Richland Hills (8,000 SF), Frisco (9,100 SF), Coppell (10,260 SF and featured here), and Keller (10,200 SF). A portion of the total repurposed envelope for most of these facilities was left as shell space for future expansion.
