The American Correctional Association's most important purpose of existence is to make sure correctional facilities around the world follow the standard for accreditation that they crafted. "Accreditation naturally goes hand in hand with oversight, which, in this context, refers to the monitoring of a correctional facility by an outside agency." The panel discussed a vision of strategies for effective oversight in correctional environments.
